On Sunday, June 3, the Witness Commission, through the assistance of our congregation’s Meals for Members and the Catholic and UCC Churches of Elizabethtown, delivered a meal for 100 people to the Unitarian Universalist Church in Harrisburg to feed folks participating in the Poor People’s Campaign. The meal included baked ziti, salad, rolls and brownies. They were gathering at the UCC Church Sunday prior to their activities Monday, June 4 at the state capitol. Damon Wagner Fields from Etown CoB was at the capitol with the protesters.
The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is co-organized by Repairers of the Breach, a social justice organization founded by the Rev. Barber; the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights and Social Justice at Union Theological Seminary; and hundreds of local and national grassroots groups across the country.
