What great timing to have this entry topic just a few days after our church service that included an opportunity for anointing!
In the devotional booklet, Wiltschek describes the anointing service at the end of senior high camp: “It’s both powerful and emotionally exhausting, and one of those times when the tingling of the Spirit is tangible.”
In Sunday’s sermon, Naomi said this about the practice of anointing: “There’s nothing magical in the oil or in the act that leads to healing. But the grace and power of the Spirit can be present, even in the simplest of gestures.”
I wonder if that same connection with the Spirit through anointing is available for us whenever we need it, if we will simply take the time to slow down and be mindful and purposeful in seeking it.
What strikes me in Walt's devotional reflection is the phrase "to serve boldly as God's messenger." How does anointing prepare us to serve boldly?
